Here, days unfold slowly—by the pool, in the open air, in shared moments that begin as brief encounters and often turn into conversations, laughter, and friendship. It is a place to rest, to relax, and to meet others along the way.

Set in Hout Bay, with Cape Town unfolding right at our doorstep, everything is close: the ocean, the harbour, nearby wine farms, the sweeping coastal road of Chapman’s Peak, vibrant markets filled with live music, and hikes through the national park.

From here, the city feels both exciting and accessible while always offering a way back to nature. Days can begin at the sea, move through mountains or vineyards, and end in the heart of the city.

This unique closeness is why we fell in love with this place—and why we chose to build our lives here.

Our Story

Best Place Ever began as a shared dream. For us, Alexandra and Gabriel, a German–South African couple, it started with the simple wish to create a place that feels real, warm, open, and made with heart. What began as a renovation soon became a journey shaped by friendships. We built this place together with friends. Builders became companions, conversations turned into ideas, and people from different countries and cultures left their marks in ways both visible and subtle. Every space carries traces of those moments—hands that worked with care, shared meals, laughter, and the quiet pride of creating something together.

The spirit of Best Place Ever also lives in the people who welcome our guests each day. Michelle, our Queen of Breakfast, starts mornings with warmth, care, and her unmistakable smile. Sahidi, the good soul of the house, looks after the guests and the place itself—always present, always attentive, and always greeting everyone with a friendly smile.

Best Place Ever is not just where we host guests. It is where we feel at home. A place where we slow down, reconnect, and open the doors to others. We created it so people can meet, relax, and feel comfortable—where strangers may become friends, just as they did for us.
